Portia de Rossi Not Joining Next Season Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Portia de Rossi Not Joining Next Season Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Bad news, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ fans: Portia de Rossi won’t be strutting her stuff on the dance floor come next season. The actress has reportedly turned the offer to become half of the first same-sex couple to compete on the reality show. And because of that, producers reportedly are scrapping the whole idea of a same-sex couple. An insider shares with PopEater:
“If Portia had agreed then this would have been a done deal. She was the only star that could have pulled this off without completely offending the program’s conservative viewers.”

Another source shared their opinion:
With all the debate going on about Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in the country, this would have been the perfect time to do this,” one Hollywood casting director tells me. “Yet, the show has never been about pushing the envelope. It’s a huge hit because it doesn’t make anyone uncomfortable.”
Do you think ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ would suffer a ratings “backlash” if they featured a same-sex couple in the competition?

I am bummed that Portia wasn’t game – I would’ve loved to watch her!

Portia de Rossi Talks About Anorexia

Portia de Rossi wants to share a piece of advice:
“A lot of people don’t say anything at all because they are worried that that person is just going to completely shut them out of their lives and that actually may happen.
“But it is really important to say something. And the thing that you should say… the thing that I would have responded to was, ‘You look sick. You don’t look well. You look like you’re suffering’ – because the anorexic wants to be admired.
“Dieting is really hard and, to get down to that weight, you want people to admire you… ‘You’re too thin’ to me was more of a compliment. Who can be too thin? There is a joke about it. You can’t ever be too thin. So that just felt like a compliment.
“Anything that would suggest that a girl is not as in control as she wants to appear to be is a better thing. Because an anorexic wants control more than anything.”
… says Portia in a filmed interview.
